15 young people, both undergraduates and graduates from the study field of biotechnology and biology as well as the business executive of MedLife e.V. gained a practical insight in the pharmaceutical company, Grünenthal GmbH, Aachen. Grünenthal focuses on reserach and the development of pain treatment.
After a very vivid introduction to the issue of pain, two development departments were visited by the participants. The techincal laboratory and the progress of the medicine’s dosage form are placed at the beginning of a long process right after the actual deployment of the pharmaceutical formulation which in the best case wields to a new or better therapy for pain patients. Despite all that, not every development is successful and accomplishes the patient due to various factors, among others the advancement depends on whether the health insurance refinances the therapy. Another aspect is to prevent the abuse of dosage form within the drug environment. Thus, the participants convinced themselves with the help of various practical samples that there are tablets that are invincible, i.e. not dstructible.
For everyone it was an exceedingly interesting morning where contacts were made and some of them even holding future-prospective.
