Hemovent GmbH has filed two further patents – for a gas exchanger and a pump – as a supplement for its new portable ECMO device which supports cardiac and pulmonary function.
Hemovent is a medical technology company and develops the world’s smallest self-contained extracorporeal membrane oxygenation system (ECMO), which supports the cardiac and pulmonary function in cardiac and respiratory insufficiency.
Due to this mechanical development of the device it is above all expected that previous complications – caused by conventional ECMO devices – can be mitigated. Thus Hemovent forsees applications primarily in extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) and also as a therapeutic measure.
